Im born and bred in Cape Town, and went to an outdoor-orientated boarding school which sparked my passion for the outdoors and to become a guide. All my life i have been around animals and learning as much about nature as i possibly can. I completed my diploma in game ranging and lodge managment right after school and went straight to CC Africa to become a guide at Madikwe.(Best decision I've made). I am very passionate about the smaller things in the african bush, like insects, reptiles, birds and anything else that attracts my attention. I am a senior ranger and a mentor for trainees who come to join our amazing team at madikwe. I hope to one day become a trainer in other parts of the world for CC Africa.

Marble Tree Snake and Painted Reed FrogPhotographed in: Phinda by nicky silberbauer Photo competition winner: May 2008
One clear evening, after a few solid days of rain, we went out to do some 'frogging'. The noise was incredible, with about nine varieties calling. When we found this Marble Tree snake we watched as it fed on the many painted reed frogs around. Capturing this moment was a balance of much luck and patience.
