Name: Abdallah Hassan Country: Tanzania, United Republic Of
Profile: Abdallah Hassan, who is Tanzanian, has been a guide for &Beyond since 1997. He grew up among the farmlands of a game-rich area called Magugu, south of Lake Manyara National Park. Abdallah studied nature conservation and management, game ranging, and all aspects of guiding and private lodge management. Abdallah is a very keen and skilled wildlife photographer, whose shots have twice won Photo of the Month on the WILDwatch website (in June and August 2009). Combined with this, his genuine passion for nature has helped him achieve his dream of becoming one of the best guides in Africa. Abdallah has been Head Ranger at Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania for over ten years, as well as assisting in managing &Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge. He has conducted lots of private guided safaris with lots of different groups focused on various interests in diverse parts of Tanzania and Kenya. Abdallah’s international exposure includes guiding at &Beyond Phinda Game Reserve in South Africa for several months. He is one of the few (if not the first) Tanzanian to visit the High Arctic in Canada to learn and share wildlife experiences between Africa and the Arctic. Abdallah is very knowledgeable, friendly and has a wonderful sense of humour; he is creative and flexible, with only one goal in his mind - to take guests the extra mile, providing lots of enjoyment, fun and learning. He also uses his extensive experience and knowledge as a Specialist Guide, taking guests on private guided safaris in Tanzania and Kenya. Abdallah has run a number of studies and projects on olive baboon and klipspringer in Lake Manyara National Park. He loves all the wildlife and activities that take place in the park, although his top five interests are birdwatching, mammals (especially baboons, cats and elephants), track identification (particularly
