I was born in South Africa in a small town called Barberton and have, for the larger part of my life, lived in the lowveld region. I have been a ranger and guide now for almost eight years! I began guiding in September 2000 whilst working in the Balule Game Reserve north of Hoedspruit as well as in the Waterberg Mountains north of Pretoria. In 2003, I decided to move to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and began working for Exeter - an invaluable experience in my life. I am now based at River Lodge, and recently completed my ‘Inkwazi ranger training' at Phinda Game Reserve to add to my FGASA level 3 qualification. I have a very special interest in bird watching and wildlife photography, in 2003 I obtained a top 50 position in the Prestigious AGFA wildlife photographic awards, in 2004 I got a top 10 placement in the Fuji film wildlife photographic awards in the "Insect and Reptile" category, in 2005 I got a top 10 placement in the Fuji film wildlife photographic awards in the "Abstract" category, in 2006 in the Fuji film wildlife photographic awards I won the "Animal behavior" category and also obtained two top 10 placements in the same category, I got a top 10 placement in the "Man and Environment" category, I also got three top 10 placements in the "Insect and Reptile" category. In 2007 I got a top 10 placement in the Fuji film wildlife photographic awards in the " Insect and Reptile " category, a top 10 placement in the " Man and Environment" category, a top 10 placement in the "Animal behavior" category, a top 10 placement in the "Animals general" category as well as a top 10 placement in the "Sasol birds" category. also conduct the Specialized Photographic Safaris for CC Africa at most of their lodges. Almost all of my spare time is spent traveling through South Africa and our neighboring countries, photographing wildlife and looking for new birds to add to my personal sightings list.
