Guide's Biography

Dale Wepener
Name:        Dale Wepener

Country:     South Africa

Profile: Dale hails from the Eastern Cape where he grew up in a rural farming district known as the Settler Country.  He went to boarding school in Grahamstown and continued his tertiary education at the University of Natal, Cedara Agricultural College and Port Elizabeth Technikon, emerging with a National Diploma and B.Tech in Agricultural management.  Dale spent a brief period farming before deciding to pursue a lifelong dream in conservation which was initiated by having spent most of his free time in some or other wilderness area of Southern Africa.  Dale started working at Ngala in June 2000. His obvious aptitude for the bush became apparent immediately and it was not long before he became involved with training and mentoring new guides. In January 2002, Dale moved to manage and guide at the Ngala Walking Safari's. He spent two wonderful and exciting years walking in Kruger's pristine bushveld before being appointed as Head Ranger for the Ngala Ranging team in December 2005. Dale is an integral and senior member of the Ngala field team. His experience as a walking safaris guide have made him an exceptionally valuable walking mentor and example to the rest of the team.
