Derrick is a local born Shangane ranger who grew up on the Ngala property and knows it intimately. He started his career in the bush clearing squad and developed through the ranks from barman to tracker and before long was promoted to head tracker. He has now been a ranger for six years and has a vast knowledge of the natural environment, built up through a lifetime of experience. Derrick also guides at the Ngala Walking Safaris bringing with him a wealth of experience and knowledge and stories which delight all his guests. Derrick's sense of humour and team spirit make him an invaluable member of the field team. He specializes in tracking, the medicinal uses of plants and their unique link to the Shangane culture.
