Guide's Biography

Douglas Isanda Onsongo
Name:        Douglas Isanda Onsongo

Nickname: Daggy the Cartoon Chef

Country:     Kenya

Profile:

Douglas was born in the cold month of July 1985 in the highlands of Kisii.  He is the eldest in a family of four, with two sisters and a younger brother.  Douglas went to school upcountry and later moved to the city after his mother died following a prolonged illness. Douglas wanted to study mass communication after high school but found himself training as a chef at Bateleur Camp and Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp instead.

Having moved to to the Masai Mara from the city, Douglas fell in love with nature and that is when he decided to follow his newfound passion and begin guiding. He trained at Mwewe Ranger Training School in Tanzania with &Beyond and now has no regret working as a guide. He feels that it makes people’s lives fun and that they have a better day by spending it with nature.
