Guide's Biography

Erick Nyamohanga
Name:        Erick Nyamohanga

Nickname: Dentist

Country:     Tanzania, United Republic Of

Profile: Erick was born and raised in the North Western side of Tanzania at a small town called Guitirio just outside the mighty Serengeti National Park, near the shores of Lake Victoria. Lake Victoria is the largest lake in the continent, third largest lake in the World. Hegrew up as a young boy with quite a lot of interaction with wildlife. Erick's family had crop farms very close to the Serengeti National Park. He and his family had a huge responsibility of protecting it from being destroyed by wild animals, especially baboons, bush pigs, a variety of birds among many others. Erick's passion for wildlife conservation was largely initiated by a friend he met  visited his village as a tourist and offered to pay for his education. He was kind enough to see Erick through primary and secondary schooling. His love for wildlife made Erick understand how lucky he was to have the wonderful nature all around him. When he joined college, Erick decided to further his studies in wildlife management training, which he took in Arusha for two years. After which he worked with a filming crew for a period of three years making documentaries. This is an experience that he will never forget. He then joined Mwewe training College at Klein’s Camp for three months, which was a really magical experience. The trainers had a very unique way of training that helped him to be who he is today. Above all things, he learnt how to share with other people. Guiding gives him a great opportunity, not only for wildlife conservation through active participation on various activities that makes difference in the field, but also gives him an opportunity for continuous learning through interaction and research. As much as he enjoy the wildlife experience, he is also a very keen birder photographer. He loves sharing his knowledge with other people, as well as learning from them as well.
