Name: Leen Charle
Country: Tanzania, United Republic Of
Profile:
Born in Belgium, I was introduced to the underwater world by my brothers, and later pursued my passion to become a PADI Open Water dive instructor in November 1992. I am qualified in many specialties such as Drift-, Wreck-, Deep- and Night-diving, as well as Peak Performance Buoyancy- to mention just a few. Meeting my husband Jan at a dive club in Belgium, we developed a common love of marine life that took us to North Sea, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean before we started a professional diving career in the Maldives, where over six years we worked on four islands, later moving on to the Cayman Islands, France, Portugal, the Philippines and the Red Sea. I now have in excess of 5000 dives logged, and have issued more than 1000 dive certifications. I joined CC Africa in June 2001 and love to capture the underwater world on film, her images regularly gracing the pages of the 'Ecological Journal' and wildwatch.com.
