Marie was born in cold Montreal, Canada but has now not seen snow for almost five years. After her first encounter with the underwater world at 12, she kept diving through family vacations all over the Caribbean Islands, where she seriously started to think of becoming a dive instructor.

At 18, she left for a sabbatical year in Australia, to complete her divemaster and instructor course on the Great Barrier Reef and also travelled through Fiji and the Maldives. She came back home already missing the Ocean, and found a summer job in the Bahamas as a dive instructor, while working on her bachelor degree in communication and international development. After, three years through university studies and work in the advertisement world, she decided to leave the whole office world and go full time for her real passion, scuba diving. She went back to work in the Bahamas, where she met Matt, and where they planned their next diving adventure to Egypt.

After one wonderful year diving the reefs of the Red Sea, Marie and Matt joined &Beyond in 2011 as Mnemba Island Dive instructors and are now ready to start exploring their new underwater world.
