Name: Martin Mallya Country: Tanzania, United Republic Of
Profile:
I was born in Marangu, a small town which is 70 kilometres north of the town of Moshi. Marangu is more popular as the starting point for most of Mount Kilimanjaro climbing expeditions. Growing up in this very natural environment I started to develop an understanding and strong interest in nature since very young age hence guiding professionally became an automatic choice of career when I grew up. I hold a Certificate in Wildlife and Field Guiding Skills from Mount Meru Tour Guide and International Languages Institute, Arusha. And I also did my ranging training at &BEYOND's Rangers' school - Mwewe in Klein's Camp and I was lucky enough to attend the birding course - Fundamentals of Ornithology Certificate in Elsamere, Naivasha Kenya in early 2007. I have worked with as a ranger since the year 2001 and I have had opportunities to work at Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge and I am now based at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge as a senior ranger. I am interested in developing my skills as a ranger in whichever way possible and as part of my personal development I have been executing field projects and writing articles. One of my articles - "The Golden Jackals in the crater" appeared on the 5th Edition of &BEYOND's Ecological Journal.
