Mike Procopakis - PADI Master Instructor, Advanced Trimix diver, Advanced Nitrox Instructor.

Mike learnt to dive in the rather murky waters of Cyprus at the age of 20. Despite sand being the predominant feature of most dives, he was hooked and went on to complete his instructor course in Florida. This was the beginning of a long career in diving in which he clocked up over 6500 dives, certified over 800 students and has been privileged to worked in many of the world’s top dive spots including Roatan (Honduras), Costa Rica, the Great Barrier Reef, Sipadan (Borneo), Indonesia, Mozambique and South Africa to name a few. Mike went on to spend many years in Egypt as a senior instructor where he trained instructors (including his wife!), guided diving liveaboards on the northern red sea’s famous wreck and trained to become a technical diving instructor! 

Mike joined &Beyond with his wife Sarah in 2007 as relief manager for East Africa. Mike and Sarah took over as managers of Mnemba Island in 2008 where they regularly fill in for the diving instructors. Mike has a real passion for some of the smaller and more bizarre residents of Mnemba’s reefs and enjoys looking for elusive frogfish, mantis shrimps and nudibranchs. The weirder the critter the better!
