Profile: I knew I'd be a ranger from an early age - lots of family holidays to the bush sparked a passion for the outdoor life, so I secured a place at Phinda's Inkwazi Ranger Training facility in 1999. Once I'd qualified, I began my career with CCAfrica's ranging team at Phinda Forest Lodge. A year spent at Phinda Walking Safaris gave me a real chance to learn and develop my interest in walking and tracking before moving back to lodge life at Phinda Vlei. In 2003 I headed south, to Phinda Rock Lodge, another fine chance to work on my photography and birding, and to make the most of the fantastic scuba diving right on my doorstep. A couple of happy years later I was fortunate to gain some management experience in Botswana, at our Nxabega Okavango Safari Camp in the Delta. What a spot for birding! My passion for guiding drew me back to South Africa once more, to Ngala Tented Safari Camp in the Timbavati area. This beautiful place gave me exciting memories of walking and tracking at Ngala Walking Safaris, in between guiding at Tented Camp. I'm based in the Eastern Cape now, at Kwandwe Private Game Reserve. When I'm not guiding, I'm kept extremely busy mentoring new recruits to our ranging team. And there's always time to take photos!
