I grew up with a love for animals and nature in general. My ancestral home is in a rural area in central India and is surrounded by forests. There were quite a number of animals at home when I was growing up. Besides the cattle and buffaloes, there were dogs, cats, horses and an elephant. Needless to say animals were an integral part of my life.

I did my graduation in History Honours and Post Graduation in International Law, primarily Human Rights and Refugee Law. I worked with the United Nation's High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Committee of the Red Cross, primarily with Afghan Refugees. However, jungles always remained a lure; and a profession that allowed me to be in the wilderness, a distant dream. It was largely a male bastion and it wasnt easy to be a woman guide in the jungles. So, when I heard of this opportunity I jumped at the idea, and the rest is history.

I am currently working at Baghvan, Pench National Park.
