Born in the Kilimanjaro region, Tumaini Soyala began her primary school education in Moshi, before completing secondary school in Tanzania’s Iringa region. She then attended the University of Natal in South Africa, where she completed a course on Business Management. Tumaini’s passion for wildlife meant that her next foray into the world of education consisted of two years at the Professional Guiding School in Arusha. From there, she headed off to &Beyond's Mwewe Ranger Training School for another six months before finally qualifying as a guide.

Now working at Grumeti, Tumaini really enjoys her work and constantly encourages other women to become guides. Engaged to Duncan Douglas Simbeye, Tumaini’s dream is to open a travel company with her fiancé, who works for a tour and safari company in Arusha. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, watching movies and listening to music.
