Raised in the remote Kaisut desert in northern Kenya, I immediately developed a love for the desert. When I grew up, I studied nature conservation and became a guide - still preferring to stay in the desert. At the end of 2000 I moved to Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge, where I developed a serious interest in the desert ecology and in the birds of the area. I then completed my Inkwazi training at Phinda and took over the role of head ranger and lodge naturalist. I have extensive knowledge of all aspects of the desert including archaeology, geology, behaviour and adaptation of desert fauna and flora, and a special interest in both the birds and the reptiles. I am currently working as assistant manager at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge, but still regularly take guests out on walks and drives in this fascinating part of the desert. I currently live at Sossusvlei Mountain Lodge with my wife and two small children.
