Profile: Vitalis Massay has been with &Beyond since 1999, when he worked as a butler for a year. In 2000 he moved to Administration and worked as a Storeman until 2002, when he qualified as a guide and began guiding at &Beyond Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp, later moving to &Beyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, where he currently Assistant Head Ranger. Vitalis’ knowledge of wildlife began in Mto wa Mbu, the village where he grew up, located in an area rich in wildlife near Lake Manyara National Park. In 1996 he completed an advanced wildlife course at Mount Meru Tour Guide College in Arusha, as well as more advanced training at the &Beyond Mwewe Ranger Training course in the Serengeti. Vitalis enjoys all aspects of guiding and is particularly good with identifying birds and butterflies. He has a great sense of humour and inevitably goes the extra mile to ensure to ensure that his guests get the most fun, knowledge and enjoyment out of their safari.
