We were winding up and on our way out of the Park after a wonderful afternoon of birding, having notched up over 50 species in just about three hours. As we passed a waterhole, we saw a vehicle parked ahead of us, its passengers avidly looking at something at the edge of the water. We parked, but couldn't see a thing! Looking through the binoculars...

It was a beautiful morning - the sky a clear blue - just right for spotting raptors. We had been driving around the river Pench, when we caught sight of a vulture. We went in to get a closer look, and were stunned by the sight of about 30 vultures on the carcass of a Chital (Spotted Deer). Long Billed, Egyptian, Red Headed and White Rumped vultures -...

We all know that the languors are one of the most social animals in the Jungle. We were driving towards the park, on the way our vehicle broke down, we had to wait for some time to get another vehicle, so nearby there was a troop of Languor’s were on the tree, feeding on Mahua flowers and the young ones were playing with each other. We enjoyed...

We had been having an exciting morning, chasing alarm calls all around the Park, when we went up some rocks thinking there could be a Leopard there. What we did find instead, was a pack of five Dholes (Wild Dogs) that had just brought down a Chital doe, and were in the process of feeding on her even as she tried getting away. A gruesome, but rare sight......

Today is one of those days that you see what you did not expect to see. I was driving from the main entrance of the gate, looking for a Blue Eyed male Tiger. I saw this bird and my guest was amazed to see it was so colorful! There were two of them on the rocky hill and very well camouflaged between the stones! We had a feast watching this bird instead of...

We started off as early as possible on our morning game drive. We had seen two lions and a lioness the night before and interestingly the dominant male took the lioness behind the bushes and got to see the reaction of the subordinate male, he did not follow them so it was showing that he knew what was going to happen, mating time. As we left to check...

As we headed out on our early morning game drive we watched the sun rising through the mist hanging between the Jackalberry and Palm trees. We crossed over a deep channel, enough to get your feet wet and onto an island that held many surprises and awesome sightings! We found lion tracks, heard monkeys and baboons alarm calling, we even found a Spotted...

Reading about Mowgli as a kid was fun. Never imagined of actually stepping and exploring Mowgli’s (a feral child) backyard where he supposedly lived and hunted with a wolf pack, talked their language, behaved in their way and so on. Mowgli and pack would hunt for food but we hunt for visual delight and aesthetic values of animals or for our quest...

We saw a mother with three cubs! I was driving early in the morning between the rolling hills of Bandhavgarh National park. It was a little cold, however, the hot water bottle and blankets kept us warm! When we entered the meadow, we heard some distress calls of spotted deer and languor’s, In addition, that territory is dominated by of one of the...
