A pair of Indian Thick-Knee has been breeding by the side of the motor path in Pench Tiger Reserve, these birds are extremely difficult to spot. Their scrap on the ground also has eggs which are also extremely well camouflaged & make it hard for any predators to find.

Saw a large male leopard after much anticipation, which crossed over the motor path into a another territory. After we left the scene of the sighting we got word that the Tigress of the same territory looked uneasy & was probably on the same trail. As leopards are known to be mortal enemies of Tigers, any Tigress with cubs would be anxious.

We watched a pack of 5 wild dogs, the Alpha male & female with 3 juveniles feasting on a spotted deer kill. Interesting to watch as the juveniles were allowed first to feed & only after a while the alpha male & female joined the feast.

As soon as we entered the park, we saw one of the most colorful birds (and it is our Mahua Kothi star bird) a red jungle fowl! Bandhavgarh is known for some of the most ferocious tigers. But seeing a tigress with one eye and hunting for herself and her 3 sub adults cubs is really an interesting sight in the wild.
