&BEYOND Exeter Lodges
Exeter is situated within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, renowned for having the best Big Five game-viewing in South Africa, if not the world. The Reserve is famous for its incredible leopard sightings. The Sabi Sand leopards have grown accustomed to safari vehicles, thereby permitting close up sightings and extraordinary photographic opportunities.

A Close Encounter
By the next morning, my guests were eager to go and see what remained of the Buffalo carcass opposite the camp. We made our way and were greeted by one very well fed lion and six very full cubs. The carcass was all but finished and we sat and enjoyed the vultures flying in to pick up what ever scraps were available. Just then a movement caught my eye and I turned around to see a male lion standing right behind the vehicle staring at the rest of the pride. Although he was only there for a few seconds, it felt like a lifetime and thankfully his approach sparked some life into the rest of the pride who then squabbled over the remains. There is nothing like an African adrenalin rush to start a safari with.
