Home Sightings India Wildlife Baghvan A Dream come true...............
 |
Baghvan
Baghvan is aptly named after one of India's iconic symbols, the Bengal tiger (bagh - tiger and van - forest). This enchanting lodge is located on the edge of Pench National Park, a dry deciduous forest of predominantly teak trees and meandering jungle streams.
A typical Central Indian teak jungle, Pench supports a rich variety of wildlife, including the tiger, leopard, wild dog, gaur, sambar, chital and brilliant birdlife. The Park's open habitat not only lends well to wildlife viewing, but it also offers striking views of the area's sheer beauty. This national park received international recognition from Rudyard Kipling's classic tale, the Jungle Book.

A Dream come true...............
Today we entered late in the park by 15 minutes and was driving slowly as one of the guest was feeling very cold. After 1 1/2 hours I reached at a place where some forest guards were standing. So I just asked them any "ALARM CALLS". They said just few minutes back we heard Tiger roar and it went ahead. So I drove fast and after 1 1/2 Kms we came close to a dry river bed where there 7 vehicles were already waiting. With in few minutes we spotted a Tigress coming out of the dry river bed and started to walk on the road. I let all the vehicles go behind the Tigress and I turned the vehicle towards other direction. Guests were confused and I told them it will come in the open area and we will see it from front. After 1 kms I stopped in the open back water area. All the vehicles were looking for the tigress in the Jungle. After 2 minutes our Guide Ram Prasad shouted "TIGER TIGER". It came close to our vehicle and went into the other side of the jungle. So all vehicles left thinking it went and wont come out. After 10 minutes of patiently waiting we heard alarms call of Langur and Cheetals. And with in few minutes we saw Tigers coming out in the open one by one. It was my dream to see Tigers in the open area in Pench as you wont see Tigers in the Back waters. They crossed the patch of clear area and one of the male cub was very curious and came close to check. After moving inside the jungle we waited for some more time and all were on the road and walked on the road for 500 mtrs and moved inside the jungle. This was the most relaxed sighting I had as there was no vehicle to disturb. We all exited the park very happy.................. Sighting of a life time
