A LOST CUB
We had a great birding morning yesterday, as we came across a lion cub on the edge of the sand river. Whilst we followed the little female, we also spotted the tracks of the pride moving into the riverbed. We eventually lost sight of the youngster when she ran into the reeds, following the other lions that we had now spotted on the other side of the river. We decided to go around and have a closer look at the rest of the pride. There were 3 females, 2 males and the other cub. It seemed like the pride was looking for a lost cub. The females were contact calling and crossed the river back to the other side. Eventually we decided to leave the pride so as not to disturb their search for their missing youngster. Unfortunately the adults couldn't find the cub. In the evening we found the females, still with only one cub. Again, the mother of the lost cub was calling without success. The pride spent the night in the Kruger National Park. We hope the cub, who is probably about 8 months old, will join up with them soon. We’ll keep you updated.
