A NEW BIRD TO ADD TO MY LIST
Yesterday morning we went for the walking assessment with our regional Guide trainer [Jacques] and Lesh [ranger] was on the lead. It was overcast, and we headed out to the western side of the Lodge where we saw an explosion of insects all around and lots of birds calling. We stopped to have a look and saw some beautiful and rare species of birds: Red headed weavers, Eurasian golden oriole, Spotted flycatcher,European be- eater , Scimitar bill, Brown Crown Tchagra, Red-billed Hornbill... While we were still there Jacques spotted another species of bird that I had not seen before in the area; Black Cuckoo-shrike both male and female. And these Cuckoo Shrikes are territorial, Monogomous and solitary nester. I would like to go to that area on a regular basis to check on their progress. By walking you get to see all the smaller things that we normally miss on the game drive.
