&BEYOND Kirkman's Kamp
Kirkman's Kamp, with its spectacular views of the unspoilt wilderness and the Sabi Sand River, is regarded as one of the best loved lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. A well known historic camp, originally built in the early 1920's Kirkmans Kamp celebrates the atmosphere of an early South African lowveld homestead.

a quite fight
Two days ago the Kirkman’s Ranger Team found a dead buffalo bull on the edge of the sand river in the reeds. The next day a male lion got the smell of the carcass and started eating. But he wasn’t the only one showing interest in the smelly food. The drive after we located a male leopard just a couple of hundred meters away on the northern bank of the river. In the late afternoon sun he got up and made his way straight towards the Buffalo. He realized the lion being there. But still approached him and lay down bravely about 20 meters away on a rock formation. Over hours the male leopard was watching the lion just waiting for his chance. And he obviously got a go. We found him the next morning with a full stomach happily marking his territory.
