African Hunting Dogs in Ngala Safari Lodge
Monday morning at six o’clock the game drives found a pack of wild dogs chasing impala towards the lodge, the dogs evidently lost the impala and stopped to have a drink at the pan that lies in front of deck at the lodge. It was very shortly after this that I was walking through the camp and happened to be on the deck when one of the dogs came trotting out from between the rooms, we were both briefly surprised to see each other before the dog made its way out of camp passed the swimming pool and to the other side of the pan where it started calling for the rest of the pack. I watched as another two members of the pack joined it from the surrounding bush and started to head off out of my view, and then with even more surprise I noticed two more dogs running out from between the rooms just next to the deck, they then decided to make their exit from the camp through the reception. That same morning they were witnessed feeding on an impala not too far from the lodge, there was also a pride of lion found not too far away that had walked passed the lodge that night, as well as a cheetah in the same area too!
