Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.
another pangolin on Madikwe Safari Lodge!!!
I have seen my first pangolin!!!! And it was amazing!! Madikwe Safari Lodge occasionally gets the opportunity to spot this extremely rare animal and from what I have read they don’t see humans as a natural threat...I now know this is true!! Once we found it crossing the road we jumped out and followed it for sometime. It was completely unfazed by our presence. Eventually, while it was sniffing around a tree that had termites under it, I got on my belly and crawled within 1meter of it taking photos with my macro lens. It did not once look at any of us! This was by far the most amazing experience I have ever had in the bush and hope it will happen again....soon!
