Beetze's Tiger Snake
After our first sighting of Beetze's Tiger Snake a couple of years ago, we have never re-sighted this rare snake again - until now. While the guests were at dinner on the 18th a Beetze's Tiger Snake came up on the veranda.
It soon disappeared into the grass, and despite looking we couldn't find it. Later that night the night butler called me at home to report that the snake was now in the lodge and he was getting a little worried. I went up and caught it, and it was indeed this beautiful rare snake.
We photographed it the next morning, and released it. The Beetze's Tiger Snake is a nocturnal gecko eating snake. They are very docile snakes. They are almost pink, with black spots on the back that extend down a little, like partial strips.
