Our mid- morning walk suddenly got rudely interrupted by monkeys and impalas alarm calling like mad close to us. I radio my tracker to bring me a vehicle to follow up. Driving in we saw an impala lamb and a female leopard standing side by side. Trying to escape the scorching hot mid morning sun the leopard pushed and sometimes even seized the lamb gently...

It is such a fantastic feeling to see one of the rarset carnivores on the planet in its natural environment! We were treated to an amazing display of pack cohesion as 8 of these beautiful animals decided to venture back into our concession. We know the pack, and there are 4 adults and 4 sub adults. On this particular day, we watched in awe as they worked...

During the evening game drive, after leaving a mating pair of lions we decided to relocate the other Lion member of the Mapogo Coalition, that was most likely making his way toward an aging elephant carcass. Up until now we had seen Hooded and White-backed Vultures including two Cape Vultures. These were the first animals to appear on the scene. We had...

It was already dark when we heard rumors that one the Exeter territorial males was headed towards the elephant carcass. As it turns out we arrived at the same time to scattering hyena. With the bush a fury with growls, snarls, crying, howling and screaming we would sit and watch for the duration of the 45 min it took to catch, suffocate and kill the...

This was a sighting that I probably could not have staged, fabricated or even dreamed up on my own. I was firstly surprised to even see a Black backed Jackal in the Sabi Sands, but being new to the Exeter area I accepted this rarity with enthusiasm and appreciation. Upon discovery of the jackal though, we noticed, in a small tree, screaming and squealing...

Is that a gull? Not a question you would expect in the middle of the Sabi sands game reserve!! While driving along looking for one of the lion prides, we decided to check on the dams. It was a very windy day, and we thought the lions might be sheltering behind the dam wall. When we arrived at the dam, we were flabbergasted to see a juvenile grey headed...

Its a rare case, to see one of these. One always imagines Caracals to be lurking in the bush, somewhere. They are so rare to see here in the Sabi Sands that one tends to forget about them all together. We saw this one this morning.
