We just couldn't believe our eyes saw a Waterbuck, but it was. As we were crossing the bridges to access the other part of the area, we surprised a female Waterbuck with a sub-adult baby running across the road from the reeds into the mash near us. According to the Guides been in the area for sometimes, this antelope has never been found within Nxabega...

A rare sighting indeed, we only see some of these antelopes mostly around this time of the year. While cruising through the lagoons of the delta to access an area with shallow water narrow stream and flood plain on both sides giving us a better opportunity to see aquatic animals including water birds. For the past week a sitatunga has been seen racing...

We were just starting up a night drive after the boat cruise through the low light with red sky in front of us, there crossing one of the lionesses about 10 miters and then one after the other. We were all shocked since we didn't expect them at all. It is quiet normal that lionesses would move silently when hunting and the fact that they were out of the...

We are proud that we still have two groups of ground hornbill which other neighbors within the region, could not find. A group of 6 (two families with juveniles each one of them) and another family of three all looks old are frequently foraging around the airstrip, flying each time the plan lands or take off. We one found them going into the tree hole and...

We had been hearing the lion roaring within the islands, for sometimes before he appeared to be seen in Nxabega area. It has been a period of four months with this male before the Marula pride (territory holders) come over this part of the area (consist of 1 male and 5 females). It drew all attention to see what will happen and only to see that the...

We were out on our morning drive, when we encountered these Kudus which we had no idea where they were for the last couple of months. With females it has been a daily sighting while the males had a secret places and not been seen often.

On several occasions we found congregations of different spices within the space/bush between the camp and the airstrip heading one way the other mostly very relaxed. This has actually drawn attention of top predators like hyenas, leopards and also recently the big male lion has been occasionally found hiding along the same area. The night of the 8th Jan,...

The popular Marula pride known to be the only pride occupying a huge amount of land, were recently found in Nxabega with 5 lionesses and 1 male in transit towards Xigera area (neibour camp). Their trip seemed to be a re-introductive into this part of the area as they kept going. They returned back after two days now being located scattered, two females...

It has been a great season for most of the animals, after being fladded for couple of months, the popular Nxabega Airstrp attracted more Zebras, Impalas, Tsessebes etc. Quite occationaly our regular opportunistic hyenas have been hanging around with wishes & hopes that one day they might be an accidential free meal of any kind.

It has just became a rare bird in the area while it was among the common ones. The nest was discovered last year around this time and the two tawny brown coloured pair disappear for almost the whole year. Now there are back again to the same nest but now in pale blonde colour. Are this the same ones? it is believed to be the same ones since most of the...
