Our plan for this afternoon was to see some hippos and from the lodge, we knew just a place to visit in order to see those. We started a bit early since the destination was far and we got there just in time, before the sunset. The pool seemed to be uneventful because there seemed as if there were no hippos in the water but from one of the Ebony trees flew...

We had had a beautiful afternoon, having seen a Pel's Fishing Owl, when we left the hippo pool after sunset, one of the Xudum Guides, Ona, called as for a young male leopard sighting.
We've known that particular one to be relaxed with our vehicles and from where we were,i thought we could get the chance to see him and we agreed with the guests that we...

The morning was one of the most enjoyable one in the hot Botswana summer months. It was a bit cloudy and the sunrise appeared as if there was fire burning.
We left the lodge to find a couple of fresh lion tracks just outside the lodge and now we were ready to add one more of the big five to the list. SK and I agreed that we were going to follow those...

As we left the lodge this afternoon, our plans were to try and find the so called big five for next four nights.
Luckily, about 10 minutes from the lodge was a huge herd of elephants which were browsing on some mopane and terminelia.
It was not a very relaxed family and we struggled a bit to get a better view of them. Finally they did settle and we...

This morning's plan was to make our way down towards one of the river channels and spend time on the delta in a Makoro Canoe. Alex (our guide) warned us that it would take about thirty minutes to get there depending on the animals we see on the way. Within 5 kilometers from Xudum Gently (out tracker) noticed fresh young male leopard tracks on the road...

With the morning's leopard sighting none of us on Safari thought we would be in luck to see another one of the Prince of Cats in the afternoon. Alex (guide) took us north towards the woodlands around Xaranna Lodge and the plan was to search for some Lions. We crossed a few seasonal channels and at some points thought the vehicle was going to drown due the...

Driving through the Mopane Woodland we noticed in the distance large birds of prey circling and landing. Initially, we all thought that a carcass had been left by some predator(s) and the vultures had come in to pick on the bones, pulling of the final scraps. We raced towards the birds, only to be greated by a different phenonemon- Winged Termites...

This morning Alex took us to one of the recently discovered floodplain grasslands to search for more bird species, and hopefully add to our checklist of the Okavango Delta. He did warn us that last time he tried the vehicle got stuck, but that wasn't going to deter us! The water levels seemed to have subsided and we were in for a treat. Upon arriving we...

We were stunned by sighting two lions about 100 meters to the airstrip. We were going to meet our new guests who were going to spend a night at Xudum and we felt honoured to have these animals as a welcome crew!
