Birding Safari
Although the falling autum leaves of the sand forest have signalled the migration of many birds in phinda, there still remains many of the star birds to be seen. Joining Mike Karantonis was an unbelievable experience in which birds such as Neergards Sunbird, Pink-throated twinspot, African broadbill, Southern banded snake eagle, Narina trogan and Lemon breasted canary were just of few of the hundreds of birds seen during the safari. A day trip to Ngoye coastal forest also gave us the viewing of the extremely localised Green Barbet multiple times. In addition to unbelievable autum birding, blue skies and liquid orange sunsets signalled the end to every day, most notably on the marsh where a black rhino and cheetah were seen within a 100m proximity of each other.
