Madikwe
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.

Black rhino attack!
We had been looking for lions all day, and with a bit of luck managed to find 3 young males on the move, so we had been following them for about 10 minutes when they dissapered into some thick bush so we keeped driving in the direction we had lost them, when all of a sudden 3 black rhino steeped out about 100 meters in front of us. We stopped and waited to see if they where going to hang around or run as they often do, well not this time all 3 slowley came closer to the vehicle. There where about 50m from us when the 3 lions popped out walking straight towards the black rhino. They saw each other, the lions dropped into the grass and rhino moved in for a closer look, before we new it we had rhino chasing the lions about 30m from us. It was amazing as just to see black rhino is special, but this was even better! And a great way to end your day in the bush…
