We went out today on a morning game drive with four guests and my tracker Vincent. Just like always Vincent was doing his part, looking at tracks. As we got to this open area renamed after the Serengeti Plains because of the vast number of game we sometimes see there such as zebras, wildebeest, buffalos and even ostriches, some interesting cat tracks...

Driving back from the boat station just up stream from the lodge , I realised that the planned route wasn't an option as the road was under water. Whilst turning the vehicle, a movement in the long grass caught my eye. I stopped and waited... A few minutes later this young hyena emerged and came closer to see what I was up to. Such a curious teenager,...

When we left Maun for Savute ,it was overcast and the temperature was very nice. We only experienced a short drizzle which was enough to make us happy and help to settle the dust. On the way, we enjoyed different sightings of birds ranging from the residents to the migrants that visit the area at this time of the year because of the abundance of food,...

On this morning I did a long road transfer all the way from Savute Under Canvas to Khwai Airstrip and back. Unfortunately all our guest had to undergo a long trip due to the closed Airstrip in Savute. However, a long journey provded us with plenty of interesting things to see! Already on my way down I watched huge Elephant herds coming my way. I...

Setting off on a drive one never knows what to expect but always hopes for that special sighting. The plan was to head to the other side of the concession but along the way we found a super relaxed male leopard walking along the road. We turned off and watched him settle down in the grass. A little while later he got up and started walking. The very...

On our transfer from Savute to Khwai we had to drive through some very high waters to get to the other side of the road. While we were crossing, the bonnet was almost covered with water. We saw a crocodile swimming right in front of us! Even I had never seen this before. It went too quickly and no one got a chance to photograph it unfortunately, but...

As we marvelled the green colour of the vegetation as a result of ample rainfall since the start of the year, we heard the deep booming calls of the southern ground hornbills. We watched them as they foraged, and later flew towards the river. On our drive to the camp, we saw some leopard tracks. We quickly decided to follow the tracks because they...

Who needs to go out on drive when the wildlife comes right to your doorstep at the lodge! Elephants passing through, hippo's between the rooms at night, birds everywhere. Last night a hyena chased an impala right past the dining area in front of the guests! Then there are the monkeys ... hang on to your muffins, they are a firm favourite with our...

Submitted by Shaka. On 19 January 2012, heading out on afternoon drive we saw some wild dog tracks. We followed them for about 30 minutes, knowing that the dogs move very quickly. Vultures at the top of a tree caught my attention and then I saw the dogs lying under an acacia tree. For about 15 minutes the dogs stayed under the tree, giving us...
