BUFFALO HERD
This is the perfect time at Ngala for huge herds of buffalo, sometimes numbering up to and over a thousand animals! If you are lucky enough to experience a herd of this size at a waterhole you will notice that everything starts out very quiet around the water. Then you will see a cloud of dust appearing on the horizon getting bigger and bigger, and soon you’ll hear a mixture of rustling and rumbling before the front runners of the herd break through the vegetation running for the water with hundreds of animals following behind. They will keep moving into the water with a loud continuous splashing noise. After all the buffalo have had enough to drink, they will start to move away from the water and soon the only sign of them would be the huge scar of tracks left in the ground of where they came from and where they have gone.
