Madikwe Safari Lodge
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.

busy dam
last night we spent 2hours just sitting at tlou dam watching a dead rhino carcass been eaten by all sorts of animals. on arrival there where two subadult lions sleeping next to the carcass. this prevented the 9 spotted hyeanas in total from coming to feed and they where getting very very close, but at the end they cut their losses and left empty stomached. as we sat watching the lions who where at the time now feeding on the carcass, heads deep inside the caverties they escavated, another pair of rhinos aproached from the north and 3more from the west. we sat watching the rhino in the moon lit night until there where a total of 7 LIVE rhino all together watching the lions feeding on there own kind! just before we left we where privileged enough to see a brown hyeana pass just infront of the vehicle and head down to the carcass to watch and paciently wait for the lions to have their fill.
