Kirkman's Kamp
Kirkman's Kamp, with its spectacular views of the unspoilt wilderness and the Sabi Sand River, is regarded as one of the best loved lodges in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. A well known historic camp, originally built in the early 1920's Kirkmans Kamp celebrates the atmosphere of an early South African lowveld homestead.

Cat and dogs
A pack of four wild dogs came to visit the Kirkman’s Kamp property late in the morning and settled down in a thicket during the heat of the day. We decided to try and find them again in the afternoon. We found the dogs running along one of the main roads south. Suddenly the pack stopped, sniffed around and turned in the opposite direction. Sniffing, trotting, again sniffing and scratching the ground. We followed them for the next couple of minutes until a young female leopard appeared in the road just a few meters in front of the moving pack. Without hesitation the dogs sprinted towards the leopard which was in seconds up a nearby Marula Tree. Shivering from the dangerous surprise the Leopard starred at the wild dogs from a safe height. The dogs, Proud of their conquer, circled the tree, jumped up and barked at the caught enemy. Just like cat and dogs.
