Chobe Under Canvas
Chobe Under Canvas is situated in the Chobe National Park which encompasses 11 700 km2 of wilderness, bordered in the north by the beautiful Chobe River, and buffered on all sides by wildlife management areas and forest reserves allowing for the free movement of game. A wildlife enthusiast’s dream, Chobe National Park is one of the top wilderness reserves in the world and is home to the largest single concentration of elephant. |

This was a game drive transfer from the airport to the camp, just some twenty minutes from the park gate at a well known area called Hippo Pool, we stopped to count the hippos in this pool which were numbering to thirty animals, this was my first time to see such a big number in this pool. One of our 3 evenings spent in Chobe was serenaded by roars of beasts (lions). We could barely sleep as the excitement of seeing them was overwhelming. The calls came closer and they were non-stop. our guide, meier, knew exactly when the sun would set and parked the vehicle on the flatlands right near the chobe river. lucky for us, a small elephant family strayed directly between us and the setting sun for a fantastic sight. it is the type of picture i've always wanted the opportunity to take.

we were fortunate to see a lot of lions in our 3 night stay. this one was resting during the late afternoon, away from the chobe river.

On our first game drive in the Chobe Naitonal Park we came across a breeding herd of elephants and this little one popped out from behind mommy!
