Madikwe Safari Lodge
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.

Clash of the titans
We came across a female white rhino with a calf this afternoon who were being follwed and harrassed by a w.rhino bull. from nowhere the bull launched a full on attack on the young calf. Myself and college Fracios had to make a hasty re-treat as not to become involved in the scuffle. Unfortunatly for the bull the mother was not going to stand for such behaviour and proceeded to give the bull a well deserved beating. We came back and checked on the rhino a bit later, happy to see the cow and calf were none the worse for ware. The bull howerver had 2 puncture wounds on his left side and a nasty gash on his face. Go mom.
