Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.
Confused Lions
We where out following a pride of 7 young lions when they led us to a pack of wild dogs, well they where metal statues of wild dogs but the lions where not sure, so they approached slowly. The dogs never ran? After much confusion the lions got closer and started sniffing and pushing the statues around. After about 20 minutes all the dogs where on there sides and the young lions looked very proud of them selves, they had one last sniff and off they went to rest in the shade.
