Dodgy Hyenas
Last night we set of to look for leopards. It was a hot afternoon, so we decided to drive along the sand river in hope for some Elephants as well. It was not long before we found a herd at one of our crossings. And what a herd. It was a huge herd of elephants, with a lot of babys running around and playing. After that, the afternoon was quiet. It was only after dark, that we got word, that a leopard had been spotted. We immediately started heading that way. It was a young male leopard, just walking along the bank of the Tjellahanga river. We followed him of the road and when we left him, it was quiet a drive back to the road. I drove around a bush, and found a female leopard there. She started heading towards the male that was only about five hundred metres away, but turned and changed direction when she saw him. We followed her for a bit, when 3 hyenas showed up. They started following the leopard and all the sudden started chasing it. The female leopard just made it up a tree, with the hyenas right behind her. They eventualy left, after waiting a while. She came down the tree and continued as if nothing had ever happened.
