Ngala Private Game Reserve has the privilege of being the only private reserve in the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Opulent Ngala Safari Lodge pays tribute to a bygone era of elegance while Ngala Tented Camp is chic and modern.
Dwarf Bittern
So far this season Ngala has been blessed with some really good rain. The Timbavati River and all the smaller drainage lines on the property have flowed, filling all the waterholes and pans. This has attracted many different bird species to the area that you don’t ordinarily see through out the year. One of these species is a Dwarf Bittern, we found this amazingly relaxed bird along the banks of a small stream the morning after some heavy rain. It allowed us to photograph it hunting in the reeds next to the water. We also had a great opportunity to photograph a European Roller.
HI DAVE (and MEGAN)!!!!! Wow, beautiful bird. We have bitterns here too, but they are more common along the south coast. Hope you all are well. When is the BIG day???? Missing Ngala so very much! Mary
