Immersed in monkey-rich forest, Kichwa Tembo is an opulent oasis of Hemingway-style tents with sweeping views of the greatest grassland system in the world - the exquisite Masai Mara. Kichwa Tembo Bateleur Camp is a smaller, exclusive camp adjacent to the main camp.
early migration
as usual the annual wildbeest migration is espected at the month of july and august in the mara.this year they arrived much earlier,houndreds of thousands have already crosed the mara river along the south brigde,thousand are lining up every day to the mara river.spectaculer to watch.
Eric - The postings recently from Kichwa about the early migration are really making me want to get there early than September. It is going to be interesting to see what will be happening then. JJ and I are counting down the days to see you all. Regards, DJ

Eric;
i was planning to go to grumeti in second half of july and hopefully back to the mara and possibly kichwa tembo in september same time i was there last year. Am thinking know given the unusual migration pattern to change schedule. What are you hearing from grumeti; are the herds moving north from there? is the grumeti crossing over? would second half of july be a good idea in the mara? i am a photographer and trying to plan it close to the large herds as possible.

Eric, thanks for the update. Since the migration is much earlier this year (again), will the wildebeest be grazing around in July and August before moving south in September? I am scheduled to visit Kichwa and Under Canvas in mid-August but it looks like I'll be a month too late to see the Mara river crossing.
