Exeter River Lodge is situated within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, renowned for having the best Big Five game-viewing in South Africa, if not the world.The Reserve is famous for its incredible leopard sightings. The Sabi Sand leopards have grown accustomed to safari vehicles, thereby permitting close up sightings and extraordinary photographic opportunities.
Elephants Galore!
Over the last week there has been a huge influx of Elephant into the Western sector of the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, on the afternoon drive of the 15th May we saw four different herds of Elephant varying in number from 10 animals up to 30 animals in the largest herd, during that specific drive all the vehicles driving in the west saw between 12 and 15 herds of Elephant, that means that there were potentially between 150 to 200 Elephants in the Western sector at one time, a huge number for a area 10 000 hectares in size
