Madikwe
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.

Feasting Dogs
We where out yesterday in hope of finding the wild dogs, so we stated by checking one of there favorite hunting areas. And with a bit of luck 3 popped out into the road, 2 minutes later the other 12 had joined and they where all greeting eachother. So off they they went towards a large vally where we all hoped they might find some Kudu or Impala, we followed for about 30 minutes and eventually lost them as they went of up the mountain, we hung around for a while but they where gone..... or so we thought. just as we had left the area we got a call saying that they where busy making a kill, so with a bit of speed we where back and watched all 14 dogs tear apart the Kudu. After adout 15 minutes each dod had a piece or was fighting for a piece. We had 2 right next to us fighting for a leg making the most incredible noise.. It was starting to get dark and almost time to leave when we heard a strange growl, and out of the darkness come a brown hyeana trying to steal from the dogs, but they wanted nothing to do with the hyeana and he was swiftly chased away.... We then decided that that was that and ended the evening with a shot of MAMPOER back at the lodge.
