Feeding Time
The wild dogs have denned on Ngala this year for the first time in about 8 years. The pups are kept in the den and only feed by the Alfa female for the first few weeks they also do not come out of the den till they are about three weeks old round about the same time they start getting weaned. Today we decided was about five weeks and that it would be safe for us to visit the den with out worrying them to much as well as scaring them away. The den is situated in a large termite mound in the south of the park and with a few different entries’. On arrival this morning there was just the baby sitters there but after a half an hour wait the rest of the pack returned and feeding time was on. What a grate moment for us to see the pups for the first time.
