First time south of the river
We set out to follow up on reports of a leopard in the south, apparently feeding on a warthog carcass. Dali, Sakhi and I searched for her near the kill but she was nowhere to be found. A short distance away, we heard kudu and jackal alarm calls. We moved closer to the sounds, and to our surprise and delight, we found a female leopard crouching in the long grass. This is the first time this particular female has been seen south of the Great Fish River. The photo shows her crossing our main reserve road.
