Footprints of Hope
Born from a sheer passion and desire to make a lasting difference to plights in need, the team of FOOTPRINTS OF HOPE (&Beyond and Africa Foundation, together with Gordon Gilbert) developed a challenge to achieve something truly valuable in the areas of wildlife conservation and sustainable community development. A love of the wild and the surrounding communities, as well as a heartfelt concern for the challenges in which each face pulled together a team with a common goal and a “mission impossible” plan of action: an 11 day awareness walk that’s all about empowering communities and enabling conservation.

It's always interesting to watch a troop of langurs - especially when they have young ones. After spending almost half an hour watching them, one of the young ones came in front of our car and started posing as if he was dancing! This sighting was the highlight of the safari for my guests.

It was very hot and we decided that we'll go to a water hole for the afternoon jungle drive (where we had a glimpse of a tiger that morning). As soon as we got there, we heard rhesus macaque making alarm calls. I scanned the area using my binoculars and I saw this tiger approaching the water! To our surprise, he was also feeling a bit hot, and sat in the...

It was a great sighting to see this uncommon and lesser seen non-venomous snake.

We saw a pride of lions in the late morning moving towards the Olololo gate! They were 15 in total and it seemed like they were hunting - although we left before they did.

We are already starting to experience a transition from autumn to winter. As a result, the mornings and the evenings are cooler as compared to the afternoons. We started our expedition trip at Nxabega where we did game drives and water activities. Normally after sunset, we use the spotlight to try and pick up nocturnal animals and birds. In one of...

On our morning game drive we came across fresh lion tracks. As we followed the tracks, it lead us to the airstrip where we found this beauty of a lion lying in the shade. I had my camera ready and got this lovely image of him walking away.

It is uncommon here to get guests who are doing over 10 drives in one park. On one occasion I had the ‘Pitti’ family with me for 11 drives. I was wondering as to what to do with the drives, as they were veteran wild-lifers who had been visiting parks in India for over 30 years. They were real keen on seeing predators and for the first five...

We have witnessed a considerable number of elephants returning to the Okavango Delta after they've been elsewhere during the rainy season.

We went on an evening game drive along the Gomoti river (which is our boundary between our concession and Moremi Game Reserve) when we came across this big male hippo.

After not seeing this pride for nearly 5 days, we found them yesterday close to the Gomoti river. It' was great to see that the cub is still doing well - as it's mother had lost 3 of her litter just after birth. I really hope this little one will survive.
