Madikwe Safari Lodge
Madikwe Safari Lodge is situated in the heart of the richly diverse and malaria-free 76 000-hectare (187 800-acre) Madikwe Game Reserve – one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries. Famed for Operation Phoenix, the world’s largest game translocation exercise with the introduction of more than 8 000 animals, Madikwe’s diverse geology and broad mix of habitats allows a wide range of African wildlife to flourish – including the Big Five, cheetah and a thriving population of wild dog.

Genet and snake
While on our way back to the lodge one night, we came upon a small spotted genet that appeared to be stalking something. After moving closer we saw that the genet was trying to kill a brown house snake. After nearly 15 minutes the exhausted genet managed to pin the snake down and deliver a killing bite behind its head. It then had to untangle itself from the snake which had wrapped itself tightly around the genets neck. It then dragged the snake into a thicket and started feeding!. Another amazing small mammal sighting at Madikwe Safari Lodge!.
