Matetsi
Before the mighty Zambezi River reaches the thundering splendour of the Victoria Falls, it passes the stylish and luxurious Matetsi Game Lodges - Water Lodge and Safari Camp. Matetsi is set on the same riverbanks about which the great explorer David Livingstone wrote so extensively. For unrivalled elegance and the exclusivity of 15km of private river frontage, Matetsi Game Lodges are an idyllic Zambezi retreat.

Hyenas Delve for Free meal
The drama started unfolding when the pack of wild dogs that we had been following for more than an hour finally chased and killed a male impala. All what was happening on this Sunday 15th of July 2007 morning seemed not to be as godly as the day. The impala's pleading calls and the whining of the dogs filled the air with unmerciful messages. While the impala was still pleading for life, the guts were already out and the dogs were already feeding. An inquisitive hyena quickly came through to check and 5 of the 9 wild dogs straight away went on to defend by chasing it away. The hyena deservedly received quite a few bites on its tail and back while its loud screams and laughs made the whole action a circus. The howling and growling then brought in another 7 hyenas who tried harder to win the kill but the dogs kept their stand until only the skin and the skull of the carcase remained. There was nothing left to die for really and the dogs finally gave up the fight and went away. The hyenas giggled in acknowledgement although they went on to fight one another of the insignificant remains. The vultures tried also to take part in the duo but several times they almost paid the prize with their necks and dear lives. The whole action took more than 45 minutes and our guests thought this was more than a true movie
