Lake Manyara
Sheltering below the plunging walls of the Great Rift Valley lies the quintessentially serene Lake Manyara Tented Camp, tucked in an evergreen forest on bird-rich Lake Manyara. Lake Manyara National Park is where Ernest Hemingway camped on the hunting safari that inspired his book, Green Hills of Africa. |
HYENAS, PORCUPINES AND LEOPARD
During our night drive with one couple, Jack and Veronic by the lake shore the first things we saw were about 20 hyenas trying to bring down a wildebeest. This battle took no less than 15 minutes before the wildebeest escaped. Moving on, our tracker Bariki spotted a porcupine at a distance of about 200 metres away! This beautiful nocturnal animal dragged itself towards us. We were really enjoying watching it as it tried to get to the shade. On our way back we were lucky enough to see a leopard, African civet, and bush babies! Imagine seeing all of these in a one night. It's incredible!!!
