It was my field work trip in the afternoon and after finishing up for the day I decided to go back to the lodge. I generally cross core forest of Kanha Tiger Reserve and as I was going through this area I saw a beautiful flower! The colour was light white -purple or pink and it was on a trunk of Sal tree (Shorea robusta). The forest was completely green...

Mysterious bird which was only seen once before was spotted and photographed again on 27th of May 2012.
According to books this bird is not found in Madhya Pradesh. But the keen eyes of all the naturalists keep looking for this bird after it was spotted once. And I was lucky to see this illusive Jerdons’s Baza perched on a tree top for 5 minutes and then...

Whenever I used to drive past that beautiful Banyan Tree (ficus bengalencis), in Kanha National Park , I always used to imagine a leopard sitting on that tree. But, every time I would pass it, it was merely a thought restricted to my imagination! But, this time, the opposite was true! It was no longer a wish of mine. I finally saw a beautiful, very...

The superb adaptability of this Grey headed Fish Eagle like any other fishing eagles or owls, grips a slippery prey like this Danio sp. fish by its apt hook claws in its talons. Soon after diving into the River Ken at Panna, the eagle eventually streamlines the fish, head first on an economic mode.

The flowers of Indian laburnum had not invited yet and the Indian butter tree had flowered it all to merry this Golden Jackal's varied diet. It’s a mid summer n i was Guiding a Group of Indian guests in the Kanha National Park and they were all expecting to see a big cat either tiger or leopard.
We drove slowly, sighting deer, Langur , birds but the pressure was still there.
We almost spent 3hrs, found not even a single sign of any of the cat and though it was getting warmer by and by. We...

As we were coming out of the Kisli area (zone of Kanha Tiger Reserve) during our morning safari, suddenly we saw something down on the road. The encounter was very close to our vehicle, and it turned out to be a snake. It was a spectacled cobra.

It is interesting to watch a troop of Langurs playing in the early hours, but a Rhesus macaque has an infamous amount of attention due to its aggressive behaviour. Although seen seldom in forests than in cities, the macaques usually enjoy fruits, barks, termites and other insects, as well as occasionally spiders and scorpions too. But I have not seen...

It's rare to see an adult tiger climbing a tree because they are large and heavy. They may, however, climb if they are being chased. On this day it was because of a herd of Gaur. We were lucky to see her in the tree for quite a long time.
